Computer Science BS, Class of 2025

Fun Fact: I’ve jumped out of a plane.

I am an aspiring software engineer with a strong interest in deep learning and full stack development. However, in addition to programming (and skydiving), I love to read any genre of books, try new walking trails, and traveling the world! I was primarily interested in digital humanities to experiment with new technologies and explore a research topic focused on how humans interact with technology and how technology influences their digital/online behavior, and this project allowed me to do just that.

Statistics and Data Science, Class of 2024

Fun Fact: I am an ordained minist

I am an aspiring data scientist from Long Island, New York. I also love reading, writing, and pilates. With this project, I was interested in seeing how personal perceptions impact in-game play behavior from a statistics standpoint. After graduation, I will be joining Discover Financial Services full-time as a Data Science Analyst in Chicago, IL.

Statistics and Data Science with African American Studies Minor, Class of 2024

Fun Fact: I wrote a poem about my crush, and it won me a Daytime Emmy nomination.

I am an LA-based data scientist with an extensive background in writing and media production. I’ve enjoyed exposure to many different types of projects, from commercial script writing to drug experiments in academia. As an author with a logical mindset, much of my research lies within digital humanities. One venture in which I ran a case study experiment, The New Brownies Book: A Love Letter to Black Families, is an artistic piece that just won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literature. After graduation, I’ll continue to forge a new career path that blends both my analytical and creative skills. Sidenote: I’m also an avid MMORPG and JRPG gamer and loved that we got to make this project about ACNH!

Paula Cohoe (she/her)

Political Science with Entrepreneurship Minor, Class of 2024

Fun Fact: I have 3 citizenships (and 3 passports!).

With a background in political science, I’m intrigued by the convergence of digital humanities and human behavior. This project illuminated the relevance of digital humanities in comprehending how virtual experiences impact not only our participation in politics and society but also the market analysis of consumer behavior in practical business applications. I come from a consulting background where I specialized in analyzing market player behavior for KPMG. My expertise lies in dissecting the intricacies of market dynamics and behavior as a third-party analyst. I am excited to join KPMG full-time in fall 2024, focusing on forensics within the tech, media, and entertainment sectors.

Sara Añel (she/her)

Content Specialist, Mapping and Design Specialist

Psychology with Applied Developmental Psychology and Digital Humanities Minors, Class of 2025

Fun Fact: I am SCUBA certified.

During my time at UCLA, I have found a new interest in digital design and studying human technology interaction. For future plans, I hope to continually integrate my interests in design and humanities research with a career in developmental psychology. This project was a great stepping stone in that direction, as the neuropsychology behind game design and player behavior, especially in young developing brains, could be a future research topic. This project helped me further understand the intersection between the digital world and humanities research, and I am incredibly happy with our result.

We would like to thank Theresa for all of her in-depth and constructive feedback on our Milestones, as well as her guidance during our discussion sections.
